ENGLISH WRITERS

Classics :
  
WILLIAM  SHAKESPEARE:

William Shakespeare (April 26, 1564 - April 23, 1616) was born in Stratford-upon-Avon (England). His actual date of birth remains unknown, but is traditionally observed on 26 April. He was an English poet, playwright and actor.  His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. Many people say that he is the best writer known.
His most famous books are: Romeo and Juliet; Hamlet (especially famous by the sentence: To be or not to be, that is the question); A midsummer night's dream.


CHARLES DICKENS:

Charles Dickens (February 7, 1812 - June 9, 1870). He was an English writer and social critic. He created some of the world's most memorable fictional characters and is generally regarded as the greatest novelist of the Victorian period. His literary genius was broadly acknowledged by critics and scholars. His novels and short stories continue to be widely popular. Some of them are: A tale of two cities (by the way: this book inspired the tittle of this blog); The adventures of Oliver Twis and A Christmas carol.






Modern Writers:


J.K.ROWLING :

J. K. Rowling (July 31, 1965 - ), is a British novelist, best known as the author of the Harry Potter fantasy series. The Potter books have gained worldwide attention, won multiple awards, and sold more than 400 million copies. They have become the best-selling book series in history, and been the basis for a series of films which has become the highest-grossing film series in history. 
She also wrote The cuckoo´s calling with the pseudonimous of Robert Galbraith, in 2013.





RICK RIORDAN:

Rick Riordan  (June 5, 1964 - ) is an American author best known for writing the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. He also wrote the adult mystery series Tres Navarre and helped edit Demigods and monsters, a collection of essays on his Percy Jackson series. He helped develop the ten books of The 39 Clues series and wrote the first book in the series, The Maze of Bones. In 2012, he completed a trilogy focusing on Egyptian mythology, The Kane Chronicles, and has published four out of five planned books of The heroes of olympus series, the sequel to the Percy Jackson series that focuses on Roman and Greek mythology.




SUZANNE COLLINS:

Suzanne Collins (August 10, 1962 - ) is an American television writer and novelist, best known as the author of The New York Times best selling series The Underland Chronicles and The Hunger Games trilogy (which consists of The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay).
